Job Description
Lead plant environmental, health & safety activities.This includes ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and employee training among various other duties.
Represent plant and company at EH&S group meetings and seminars
Record retention of required environmental reports
Monthly EPE and SWPP inspection and reporting
Annual SWPP, air permit, SARA title iii form r, and tier ii reporting
Conduct annual internal EH&S audit as well as appropriate ISO 14001 audits for the plant.
Address and follow up of daily safety issues and concerns
Conduct accident investigations to determine root cause. Document investigation finds and participate in disciplinary process related to safety.
Address ergonomic issues and correct through engineering and maintenance groups
Raise safety awareness by developing new and maintain safety awareness programs ( fall protection, confined spaced, ladder safety )
Coordinate company fire extinguisher program.
Maintain company emergency action plan and coordination
Arrange and conduct PPE assessment, confined space assessment, noise survey, industrial hygiene survey.
Maintains MSDS books and keep them up to date along with reviewing MSDS sheets of proposed materials.
Monitor HFR labeling of containers on production floor to assure compliance.
Review new equipment installation to address EH&S concerns
Participate in most EH&S related 8d review teams.
Leads OSHA inspections on behalf of the plant.
Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
Required Skills
Responsible for leading facility compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, including EPA, ISO 14001, OSHA, as well as established internal company standards. Develop, monitor and submit reports and work instructions associated with air emissions, hazardous waste management, waste water treatment, emergency response, OSHA recordkeeping, compliance EH&S training, industrial hygiene auditing, respiratory protection program, and ergonomics improvement planning. Lead the incident investigation and injury prevention process, lead an EH&S continuous improvement process, conduct machine safety assessments including guarding and LOTO best methods. This position consists of 40%25%20environmental and 60%25%20health and safety management.
Conduct forklift training and evaluation including classroom instruction and hands on training/assessing.
Conduct lock-out tag-out training to meet plant and compliance requirements.
Conduct Hazardous Communication training to meet plant and compliance requirements.
Conduct overhead crane training to meet plant and compliance requirements.
Required Experience
Associate s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in an EH&S function strongly preferred.
5 years of experience managing the requirements listed above as well as a Bachelor's degree in a related field. CSP or CIH certifications desirable.
Proficiency with software programs including word processing and spreadsheets required.
A true desire to help make the plant a safer place for all to work.
A team player who is results driven, able to work under pressure, has strong leadership skills, high energy, strong organizational skills, is empathetic and able to deal with issues in an open, honest manner.
Ability to effectively present information to the employees and the management group.
At least a working knowledge of the following is required: OSHA and RCRA regulations, machine guarding, Haz-Com, and ergonomics.
