MedVenture Technology is a local, innovative, high growth company with a collaborative, high performance work environment. We develop and manufacture minimally invasive, single use medical devices in the endoscopy, cardiovascular, neurovascular, and urology markets. The products we develop and manufacture are typically market disruptive and displace higher cost procedures. We currently have 250
employees and are looking for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to help us grow the business. Our engineers work on multiple products and product platforms and ensure that or products meet or exceed quality guidelines and expectations.
We are currently hiring for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor who:
3-5 years of manufacturing experience
3-5 years of strong leadership skills
Accountable to enforce company policies and resolve conflicts
Basic Responsibilities
Develop Associates; Ensure associates are provided a performance review annually that takes into consideration: Job Proficiency, Attendance, Cross-Training, Number and quality of improvement suggestions and Teamwork exhibited.
Work with the Human Resource Department and the Production Manager to hire manufacturing associates as needed.
Ensure associates have clear and concise job descriptions, written processes, and the required training and cross training so the department can execute properly.
Reward associates by managing incentive programs that support continuous improvement.
Ensure HR policies are complied with and associate issues are handled including managing the time card system for associates along with Safety and Emergency Response policies and metrics posted.
Ensure the culture of the manufacturing cell centers on an understanding of the customers needs and that the production line is the focus of the dedicated resources.
Provide the direct leadership for the production lines and indirectly influence the other members of the manufacturing cell to ensure that the production lines are meeting or exceeding customers needs.
Ensure all productions lines are managed in a lean manner and employees understand and act accordingly. Unless prohibited by a client, supervisors should specifically: Maintain a visual production board that includes hourly goals, actual hourly results, and documentation of problems and scrap issues and the associated status or corrective action. Any down time, set-up time, and shut down time should be captured so that the team can review and try and minimize these issues for the future. Ensure this data is captured and trended for manufacturing metrics. Review the visual production board several times daily for issues related to productivity, downtime, equipment issues, and scrap.
Understand the scrap issues on the line. Support the Manufacturing Engineer to pareto the scrap issues and with the Cell Team, create action plans to drive down scrap.
Support the Manufacturing Engineers efforts to work with the Cell Team to help them improve processes, parts flow, balance issues, equipment issues, etc. to constantly improve productivity.
Provide first response to any documentation and equipment unscheduled maintenance issues that impact the production lines. Ensure the Manufacturing Engineer is aware of any issues that impact production. Communicate to Production Manager staffing requirements to meet customer demand. Move within and across cells as needed.
Ensure that associates are provided with clear manufacturing instructions and standards of work to drive improvements in the quality of the products. Demand cross training on each line and across lines. Associates should be cross trained on each operation on their line. Ensure a training matrix is posted and maintained. Demand reductions in WIP quantities on the lines Drive the organization towards continuous flow. Work with the Manufacturing Engineer and Maintenance team to ensure equipment is maintained in a manner that maximizes equipment life and performance and minimizes impact to production.
Assist the Manufacturing Engineer to help: Ensure associates employ 5S at their stations. Ensure the Line layout encourages minimal WIP and emphasizes continuous flow. Support the 5S initiatives by ensuring the table, equipment, wiring, etc. is laid out properly. Ensure equipment and line is validated and qualified. Support Maintenance to ensure that the equipment is maintained in a manner that maximizes equipment life and performance and minimizes impact to production. Audit documents to ensure that actual associate work is reflected in the documentation.
Improve Quality. Focus on product, process, and paperwork quality by incorporating the following activities: Ensure that each associate understands their obligation to produce products that meet or exceed product specifications. Ensure the production lines are compliant with all applicable Quality policies and regulations. Ensure appropriate training requirements are maintained. Provide the Quality organization with information to ensure that all raw material quality issues are being addressed with the appropriate vendor and that quality is improving.
Support efforts to manage material in a lean manner. Specific actions include: Ensure all associates are trained on the Visual Inventory Management system and comply with material movement procedures. Work with Purchasing to anticipate materials needs or obsolescence as Engineering Change Orders are processed.
Assign associates to their work stations daily and assist them in their jobs as required. Ensure that associates are moved among operations to improve morale and minimize ergonomic issues.
Provide the appropriate data to the Production Manager so the right metrics are being created to ensure the organization is performing at the highest level. Examples of metrics include: Improvement in hourly production per person and reduction in scrap daily and monthly (source for this metric is the hourly visual boards). Reduction in direct labor as a percent of sales monthly. Improvement of first pass yields on DHR accuracy daily and monthly
Performs other duties as assigned, including client tours of the line, management of the sickness and vacation policies, cleaning procedures, coordinate with HR new hire screening and training and benefits, time card management, and environmental measurements.
Required Qualifications
High school education. Good math skills a must. Technical degree or equivalent desirable.
2 years minimum of supervisory responsibilities or equivalent experience.
Experience conducting performance reviews and disciplinary actions
Manufacturing experience, preferable in a medical device area or equivalent.
